A BIG week for U2

It's a big, big week for U2.... and here's some of the highlights.
After the Echo show in Berlin last night the band went out for dinner with Michael Mittermeier, film director Wim Wenders and musician Herbert Gronemeyer.
Today the band arrived in Paris ahead of some French promotional work, including a live performance for Le Grand Journal on Canal Plus on Monday night.
They then head for London where there's lots going on in the next few days. If you're in the UK open your calendars.
First up Monday when new tracks from the album will be aired on Jo Whiley's Radio 1 show (10am-12.45pm) and on Edith Bowman's show (1-4pm).
On Tuesday tune in to Zane Lowe (7pm) when his guests include Bono and Edge.
Then switch off the radio and turn on the TV - at 10pm BBC2's The Culture Show has a special focus the new album - and later in the week, on Friday, there's an extended version of the show, with even more U2, starting at 11.30pm.
Friday also sees a special Radio 1 'Live Lounge' with U2 broadcasting from the BBC Theatre at Broadcasting House. Tune in between 10am and 12.45pm.
That same afternoon check out Chris Evans's drivetime show on Radio 2 - the band are in the studio with him.
And then finish the week with the TV again - they'll be performing two songs on the Jonathan Ross show which goes out on BBC1 at 10.30pm (That's just before the extended edition of The Culture Show (id we mention that ?) at 11.30pm - over on BBC2.

Happy New Year to you all.2008 was a bit of an UP and DOWN year for the band we played 26 gigs over the 12 Month period 2 less than we did in 2007. In total since we started in late 2004 we have played 134 gigs quite an achievement for this band. We think the smoking ban and the credit crunch are affecting pubs more than any other industry.
The biggest and saddest thing in 2008 was the loss of our band mate Nick Daniels to spinal cancer. We still think about Nick everyday it has been hard especially for Adam and Bono to come to terms with such a sad loss, he was a great mate as well as our guitarist form 2004 till October 2007, but he was a friend long before that and is sadly missed by all.
However 2009 promises to be a great year for this band we already have 20 gigs booked in the diary. The real U2 are set to release their 12th studio album titled No Line on The Horizon so we should have some new great songs to learn and perform.
Craig rejoins us too on the sound in 2009 and Mick continues to be the roadie and the brunt of all our jokes????.

Family flowers only however due to Nicks love of Children and his illnes donations can be made to Clare's House Childrens Hospice in Chester. Any donations can be sent to Co-operative funeral care in Burnley.
Caroline has asked me to pass on her and the girls thanks for all the kind words and messages sent to the site and also to all who have passed on their condolences it is very much appreciated.

Unfortunately again due to circumstances out of Rattle and Hum's control the gig at The Variety club Keighley on September the 1st has been cancelled by the venue. Don't despair Elaine the land lady has promised we will be back next year
