This is how it should be - Ma Murphy's in Morecambe

Monday, December 29, 2008

The band took to the stage to the sounds of "Christmas baby Please come home" by U2. It was about an hour earlier than planned just after 9.30PM but is was so busy you just couldn't move in there.

The band knew it was going to be good, Celtic had beaten Rangers earlier in the day,Bono and Adam had seen a Ghost outside, had a laugh at Mick the roadies house and at his expense (see pics), and Ma Murphy's was packed with Celtic fans. The crowd were shouting for more even at the soundcheck at 6 PM it was like a gig then the band playing a couple of extra's just to keep the crowd entertained........

So after the big entrance Electric Co. was thrown in to the first set in place of 11 O'clock which was played the previous night. People at the front were dancing and trying to get on stage as Bono said "It was really going off in the BOMB SHELTER". To the bands amusement Adam dropped a couple of notes on New Years Day as he was mobbed out front but no one cared it was a great crowd, the set closed off withte fly.

Again the band had to go on early for the second set it was so busy, it sounded great the band were playing well and Bono was singing great.

In a nice way the band were a little disappointed it had not been like this the previous nights, Adam commented "it is gigs like this that you wish all your family could have seen and friends too. This is why we do this band, not for money but for a great crowd reaction like we got tonight"

The second set was changed a little from the previous night, Bullet was thrown is an a late addition. At the end of One The Edge threw in Unchained Melody, Bono didn't have to sing the crowd were so loud it was unbelieveable.

The band brought the evening and year to a close with a rocking version of Sunday Bloody Sunday.

Bono,Adam and Mick the roadie stayed over and had a few drinks and sang Karoke with the locals it was nearly 5.00AM when they went to bed.
