It was a Sort of Homecoming - The Wellington Burnley Sunday July 13th 2004

Monday, July 14, 2008

As Bono said "This is a venue that was very good to us in our early days, when we were just starting out. So it is great that it has re-opened and that we have been asked to come back and play".

It was a short notice gig but the crowd didn't dissapoint and the venue was busy. It was nice to see Adams mate from his school days Paxo in the audience and also Andy the singer from U2 tribute band US4, and all the other regulars. Micks abscence was NOT noticed.....only joking.

The band took to the stage to Elevation before going straight in to Vertigo.
First set highlite was a full on redrocks version of 11 O'clock Tick Tock these oldies have really stood the test of time (nearly 30 years old that one)Jules had the solo off too a tee including full harmonics as the CLOCK chimmed. The set closed out with a rockin version of The Fly.

Second set opened with The City of Blinding Lights before Beautiful Day and Out of Control. Finaly the crowd pleasers Desire, Still haven't found and Streets to which bono mounted the bar but I think he missed Homer...

Sunday Bloody Sunday Closed the show and the crowd shouting for more the band took to the stage to finish off the afternoon with an emotion filled version of With or Without You.

Thanks to Steve and Angie for having us on it was and is always a pleasure and thanks to everyone who turned up at such short notice the people of Burnley always do us proud
