What a great weekend in Burnley
Monday, August 25, 2008
Saturday night saw the band performing at what they call their home venue. The Talbot in burnley it is a great place to play Tony and Michelle always look after us well.
The band took to the stage just after 9.30PM with U2's Elevation from their 2001 album All you cant leave behind. Then it was straight in to Vertigo. The band then performed a great version of 11 O'clock Tick an old favourite from 1980 we haven't seen that one on the set for a while.Later in the set they performed Mysterious Ways the second time of playing and the first time in Burnley. The first set closed with The Fly..
City of Blinding Lights was the second set opener and then the old favourites Beautiful Day, Still Haven't Found etc. One was dedicated to Nick, this is always a tough one to play nowadays it has a differnet meaning to the band since Nick passed away.
The edge commented "we absolutely nailed With or Without You". Someone in the crowd told Adam it was her favourite U2 song so it was for her.
The band returned with a surprise in the encore Out of Control and the evening closed with Pride.
A great night........
So on to Sunday Afternoon the band were at The Ighten Leigh again in Burnley the place was absolutly packed by 3.00PM
The boys entered to the infamous song "Wakeup" by Arcade Fire a la U2 vertigo Tour then straight in to Vertigo, then I will follow the crowd for really up for it so was Bono.....
Angel of harlem and All I want is you were added to the set from the previous night.
Bono was enjoying this one he was larking with the crowd who responded in there usual manner.
For the encore the band left Fast Eddie on Stange who belted out the drum beat to We will Rock You then in to Sunday bloody Sunday. The crowd calling for more the boys playedd Vertigo again this time Bono added the words from Stories for Boys.
Thanks to everyone who came to see the band over the weekend your continued support means a great deal to us, if no one watched us then we would have no gigs......
Thanks to Tony and Michelle at The Talbot and Neil at The Ighten Leigh we appreciate the bookings.
And Finally Craig our mate and Soundman performed for the last time this weekend he needs to spend more time on his house.......Thanks Craig for the last few years you have done a great job you will be missed and hopefully you may return in the future.
In the meantime we welcome MICK "Do you wanna be in my gang" Who fell out of Gary's van and is very accident prone. He joins us on the sound and Bono's PA from Next week. NOT SURE WE HAVE DONE THE RIGHT THING ........But life is full of uncertanty....
